African skin is more prone to certain conditions of which the most common is dullness, dryness, roughness, unevenness, tightness and an “ashy”look. 

As a result, many African women usually add extra oils to traditional body lotions to retain moisture and rejuvenate their skin.  Based on these insights, Dark & Lovely responded to the needs of their consumers by creating a body lotion that makes it easier for them to address all these issues in one step.

Dark and Lovely Crème 6 Oils, combines six natural oils with unique properties, which work together to give Africans the much needed flawless skin. The six natural oils are coconut, jojoba, Apricot, Sweet Almond, Avocado , and Shea Butter.

Speaking at a cocktail reception in Accra to launch the novelty product,  Executive General Manager of , L’Oreal, Jean-Dominique De Ravignan said:  “As a company, L’Oreal has been in existence for over a hundred years and has given our consumers very strong international brands brands like L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline New York, Lancôme, or Dark and Lovely and a lot more”.

Mr. De Ravignan L’Oreal noted: “West Africa has been in Ghana since 2000. We have enjoyed the peaceful nature of the country and the warm inviting nature of the people of Ghana. 

This has helped our business to grow and we are grateful to you for that. 

“In Ghana, we have been present under the SoftSheen Carson brands which are Dark and Lovely, Blue Ice, Magic”.  These brands are for both male and female although for a lot of you, the perception is that the company has products for only women, he said.

“After extensively researching African skin and the market, we were determined to provide a solution to the common skin imperfections affecting our consumers” said Richard Kumassah, Brands Manager, L’Oréal West Africa.

“We believe that every African woman deserves to have beautiful skin and we sought to develop a product that could recover and preserve the skin, and ultimately return it to its healthy and beautiful origin.
