One hundred and twenty pupil teachers sacked in the Upper Manya Krobo District are still on the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) payroll and receive their salaries every month. Investigations by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) revealed that the district is not faced with teacher deficit, rather the 120 sacked teachers falsified their documents. Ghana has joined other West African countries to abolish the residence permit system for citizens of member states. Currently, West Africa citizens are given a 90-day Visa free entry into any ECOWAS member country. Since news broke last Sunday that popular hiplife musician, Castro, was feared drowned after a Jet Ski accident with a lady friend, many of his colleague artists have been praying that he is found alive. Reports say that Castro was in the company of Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, who together with friends were spending the weekend at an Ada resort. Ghanaians have been asked to wear red attires today in a campaign dubbed ‘The Red Friday’ aimed at forcing government to address concerns raised in the ‘Occupy Flagstaff House’ petition. Henry Kofi Wampah, Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has called for stronger action from the Ministry of Finance and government to alleviate the country’s economic difficulties. “Fiscal consolidation will require a more aggressive stance in the second half of 2014.
