Samini has just launched the “Samini Light A Million Lives”, an ambitious project to distribute One Million solar lanterns across the length and breadth of Ghana, as part of his 10 years in music. The Germany international will continue his career in La Liga after signing a six-year contract with the Santiago Bernabeu side Bayern Munich have announced that Toni Kroos has completed his transfer to Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee. The Managing Director of the Ghana Netherlands Chamber of Commerce Nico van Staalduinen has cautioned Ghana not to consider banning the importation of chicken. The New Patriotic Party has decided on August,31 as the date for its special congress. The First Vice Chairman of the party, Freddy Blay, told Citi News on Tuesday that the National Executive of the party had submitted a proposal to the National Council, requesting that the Special Congress be held on August, 30. There is a chance the AIDS epidemic can brought under control by 2030, according to a report by the United Nations Aids agency. It said the number of new HIV infections and deaths from AIDS were both falling. However, it called for far more international effort as the “current pace cannot end the epidemic”. And charity Medecins Sans Frontieres warned most of those in need of HIV drugs still had no access to them. The report showed that 35 million people around the world were living with HIV {....}

President John Dramani Mahama has scrapped the Ministry of Information and nominated Ekwow Spio Garbrah to join his executive team as part of a re-alignment of his government. The President has nominated a former Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, as Minister for Trade and Industry. Nigerian police have arrested a man claiming to be Boko Haram’s “chief butcher” in an area identified as the Balmo Forest of northeastern Nigeria. Detectives arrested Mohammed Zakari, 30, as he fled from what police and the military describe as an intensive counterinsurgency sweep in the area. Zakari is accused in connection with the deaths of seven people, including women and children, according to Nigerian police. He is also accused of taking part in an April attack against Nigerian customs {....}
