8:45:57 PM #Sad: Floods Hit Some Areas In Accra Again | |
Some areas in Accra have been flooded following a rainfall on Friday afternoon. Reports indicate areas such as parts of Asylum down, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, and Kaneshie have all been flooded. The downpour which lasted about an hour, has submerged many streets resulting in heavy vehicular traffic. Commuters have been left stranded as a result of the vehicular traffic. Below are some images gathered from social media platforms. Parts of Accra were totally submerged by Friday afternoon’s less than one hour rainfall. Friday’s heavy downpour which started at around 2:00pm flooded areas such as Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Obetsebi-Lamptey Circle, Kaneshie, Makola, portions of the Graphic Road, and some parts of Accra. When Peacefmonline.com visited the affected areas, vehicular movement in those areas had been brought to a complete standstill as a result of the flooding; with some residents, pedestrians and motorists marooned and waiting patiently for the floods to subside. Pedestrians and motorists struggled to navigate the few dry spots and least flooded portions of the road to reach their destinations, while others busily scooped water from their homes and shops. At the onset of the rains, traders and
shoppers around the Kaneshie Market area run for cover while travelers
struggled to join the nearest commercial transport "Trotro” available.
