 From very reliable contacts in the US, the Ashantis living in the United States of America have snubbed the Asante Overlord. The normal pomp accorded him whenever he visits the US since his ascendancy to the Golden Stool, has virtually evaporated into the thin air on his latest visit or arrival.The pageantry of the Ashantis decorating their cars with Ghana flags, their cars hooting, people carrying and wearing Ashanti memorabilia and paraphernalia to welcome him to the US never occurred this time around. They are peeved at his inferior quality leadership that has paved the way for the current government to treat the Ashantis with disdain. To them, the Asante Overlord does not represent, or protect, the collective interests of, the Ashantis but himself. Some are also concerned about how by his attitudes and actions, he has damaged the respect the other tribes had for the Ashantis, especially, the occupant of the Golden Stool. Under his leadership, the Ashantis have been reduced to nonentities, they allege. Why then should they pay homage, let alone, an unreserved one, to him? From the same reliable source, they wonder why he has shamelessly proceeded to the US for medical treatment or check-up, when he is presiding over the destruction of the healthcare system in the Ashanti region. I personally think he should not have been nominated, elected and crowned the Asantehene in the first place, looking back at his hustling life in Canada and the United Kingdom. All that I can say is, once a crook, you are always a crook. How can the sitting Asantehene be so wicked towards his own subjects? Who are his advisors? They are not helping him but rather seeking his downfall. They have to tell him what he needs to hear but not what he wants to hear. The Ashantis are getting fed up with him by each passing day.
