University of Cape Coast (UCC) has indefinitely postponed its re-opening date due to what it describes as “circumstance beyond control” UCC was initially scheduled to re-open school on the 2nd and 9th August, 2014 for fresh and continuing students respectively. An official of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has advocated a medical insurance and risk allowance package for health workers who will handle Ebola cases should the disease break out in the country. The police in Lagos have arrested the runaway boyfriend who took the life of Ms Njideka Lizzy Nzewe, the Managing Director of EDMARK. 31-year-old Kelechi Williams is said to have strangled his victim on July 19 in the Amuwo Odofin area of the state after which he escaped to Ghana with some of her belongings. The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has placed an order for two units of diesel trains to operate shuttle services on the yet-to-be rehabilitated western railway line. The trains will, however, not arrive in the country until rehabilitation and upgrading of the lines, which have suffered intermittent postponements, is completed. A Minister of State at the Presidency, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, has denied a media report suggesting that he is lobbying to partner President John Mahama for the 2016 elections. The Chief Executive of Kessben Group of Companies, Mr Kwabena Kesse who is standing trial for money laundering and forgery of documents, has been granted bail. An Accra Circuit Court Thursday morning granted him bail in the sum of GHȻ350 million with four sureties, two to be justified according to Graphic Online court correspondent, Victor Kwawukume. Barack Obama has said it is too soon to send an experimental drug used to treat the deadly Ebola virus to West Africa, as experts meet to decide whether the outbreak warrants declaring a global health emergency. The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, on Wednesday described the Ebola outbreak in the country as a “national emergency’’.
